"Now
when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,
saying, 'Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.'
And Jesus said to him, 'I will come and heal him.' The centurion answered and
said, 'Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak
a word, and my servant will be healed."' Matthew 8:5-8 Centurion in the
time of The Lord Jesus was a man who used to arrest people and many times he
used to give order to kill others proving that he had nothing to do with God.
He was not Jew but Roman, however when he saw his servant suffering he
immediately decided to do something to save his life. Then he came to Jesus by
himself for he could not bring his servant because he was paralyzed. The centurion
was so confident in what he was doing that he didn't even need the presence of
the Lord Jesus at his house, but just a word and would be enough for his
servant to be healed and that's exactly what happened to him.The point I want
emphasize here is the centurion didn't accept to see his servant suffering
without doing anything to help him and actually this was what The Lord Jesus
was expecting from those who were following Him, in order words for us to help
those who are suffering.
The
Centurion like the Good Samaritan were not Christians. They didn't know the
Holy Scripture, yet they had compression on those who were suffering and did
something to save their lives. We as Christians and servants of God, are
anointed with authority to cast out demons and heal the sick, can do much more
than these two men did and made history. Let's make sure that this Sunday
we bring someone who needs help. I do believe that you have already found
the person and he or she can come from your own family, friends, neighbors,
etc. Though it is not written in the Bible but I am very sure that these two
men the one helped by the Good Samaritan and the one who was helped by the
Centurion never forgot about those who helped them to overcome their problems. I
also believe that you always remember the one who evangelized you and gave you
a hand to take you out of your suffering.
Think about it.
God Bless,
Think about it.
God Bless,
Bishop Carlos
