Looking Straight Ahead
And the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you." Joshua 3:7
Dear friend, We all know how many great and marvelous things God performed through Moses and Joshua, how many nations were defeated before their eyes and the powerful relationship between them. We find in the Holy Scriptures amazing stories that clearly reveal how God used to manifest His glory in those days because their pleasure was to obey God's voice and do everything exactly as they were told to do. There was no distance, no bad weather, nor negative thoughts neither desire of giving up. Inside of them there was only one thing, the determination to enter and possess the Promised Land, the abundant life prepared for them and all his descendants. Moses and especially Joshua never carried in their hearts any shadow of doubts about God's promise. For them it was the only guarantee of a successful life and happiness in every aspects. For this reason they never limited their efforts, dedication and sacrifice to obey God's commandments.
The secret of their victories was to believe in everything that God had promised to do in their lives. But, how about people today? Do they really believe in God's promises? If they truly believe, why don't they fight and push themselves to conquer it? Why are there so many people inside the church saying that they believe in God, but the type of life that they are living glorifies the evil one more than God Himself? Why are there more Problems, sadness, frustrations and traumas than victories and joy in the life of those who claim themselves Christians?
The power to change this situation is in our faith. Let's use it to breakdown and destroy the walls built by the devil to prevent you from enjoying a type of life that really glorifies God and reveals His greatness in this world.
Stop grumbling, stop doubting, stop looking back to things you did in the past because you don't have power to change them. Instead, look straight ahead and be focused on what you have to do to possess what God has already given you much before you were born. Don't make the mistake that the Israelites made while they were in the wilderness by moving back and forth for forty years and in the end they all died over there without delighting the abundant life prepared exclusively for them.
When you come to the night vigil this Friday make sure you leave all your weakness and worries behind. Come ready for just one thing, which is to destroy the walls that have separated you from the realization of all your dreams.
"And Joshua said to the people, 'Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.'” Joshua 3:5
