Get behind me!
We definitely have to be careful with the type of word we have hear everyday, because they can cause a dramatic influence in our daily decisions. This can change they way our life should be. There are many people carrying a profound remorse by following someone else's word, they ended up doing what they were not supposed to and reaped disappointment and frustration.
In a conversation between The Lord Jesus and Peter we can see in a very clear way how Peter used by the devil, tried to persuade The Lord to give up on what He had already decided to do. He used words to touch His feelings, his emotion. "From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, 'Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!'” Matthew16:21, 22
Satan tried by all means to discourage Him from something that would bring the greatest and most important thing in this world, which is the salvation of our life. Now think with me, if the devil tried this against The Lord Jesus, who is above all things, how about me and you? Therefore, we must be very careful with the type of words that we hear everyday. It doesn't matter where the word is coming from, if what you hear is something that puts you down, makes you weak, emotional, or discouraged to the point of changing everything in your life around, then my advice to you is to rebuke it right away, because this type of word is not of God.
When the word we hear comes from God's mouth, we become strong and up lifted. There's peace and self-confidence on whatever we are going to do. The Word of God does not bring doubts nor fear but makes us to move ahead all the time. The Word of God works with our faith and intelligence, not with our feelings or emotions. Everyone who hears and practice His words are able to make right and clear decisions that lead them into a successful life. Therefore, be alert with persuasive and emotive words because they can easily destroy your life. And in this case you better say exactly as The Lord Jesus said to Peter. 'But He turned and said'“Get behind Me, Satan!" Matthew 16:23
